'Phil Foden has been doing it!' – Lionesses star Lauren James explains celebration as her stand-out Chelsea display sees Blues crush Arsenal's WSL title dream

Lauren James has revealed that her celebration in Chelsea's 3-1 hammering of Arsenal was inspired by fellow England sensation Phil Foden.

James ran the show at Stamford Bridge as the Blues picked apart their Women's Super League title rivals, racing into a 3-0 lead before half-time. The England forward's goal in the 15th minute opened the floodgates and when asked what her celebration was all about, she pointed to Manchester City's Foden.

Speaking to after the game, James said of her celebration: "I just do whatever is in the moment! Phil Foden has been doing it at the moment so I think that celebration came to my head."

Asked about the free role she was given in a devastating performance, James added: "I think everyone loves me to have freedom but those behind me make sure I’m doing my job defensively and if I’m doing my job defensively, they say: ‘Do what you want’."

James played a key part in Chelsea's second goal, scored by Sjoeke Nusken, and the German added another in the first half in an eventual 3-1 win that puts the Blues six points clear of Arsenal at the top of the WSL table, with Man City their closest competitors. City are three points behind and face Brighton on Sunday.
