McDonald's will replace Uber Eats, who have been sponsoring Ligue 1 for the past five years having entered into a deal with the league in 2019. Riolo further revealed that while the food delivery company used to pay €15 to €16m per year, the new deal with McDonald's will see Ligue 1 earn around €20m (£17m) per season for the next three years.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID
Speaking to , Riolo said: "They did not want to continue paying at that price… and there was an offer submitted to Vincent Labrune’s office [President of the LFP] with a tidy sum. It’s an offer from McDonald’s. They haven’t yet planned the comms for the junk food and everything, they’re working on it… It’ll be around €60 million over three years, it’s a clear increase."
